Shorten Reserve features a large sports oval home to West Footscray Roosters football club, with well-maintained grounds and facilities. The reserve includes playground equipment, a canteen serving chicken schnitzel sandwiches, and regular coffee van visits. BBQ facilities are available along with plenty of parking, making it suitable for families attending sports activities. The oval terrain has some elevation changes, adding character to this community sporting venue. Located conveniently with early morning access for walks and exercise.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
